Happy Easter!

Happy loooong Easter weekend!  The Canadians are on holiday from Good Friday through Easter Monday.  ("High Five" for 4 day weekends!)  We are having some extremely beautiful weather here in Calgary.  This past weekend saw temperatures in the 50's.  That's a heat wave up here!

On Friday, Jim and I decided to start training for our summer hikes in the Rockies by walking around Glenmore Reservoir.  We weren't sure how far it was since we usually make the trek around on our bikes.  About three quarters of the way around, we came upon a map that showed the trail as 16.62 kilometers (that's 10 miles!!) around the lake.  Since we were already more than half way, we "kept-on-a-going."  We did it in record time for old folks, two hours and forty-five minutes!  We pretty much "vegged out" the rest of the weekend with intervals of carb-loading via chocolate bunnies.  Friday evening we were treated to a tour of the Calgary Court House by our friend, Judge Les, followed by dinner at Broken Plate, a Greek restaurant in Kensington.

On Easter Sunday, we walked to a neighborhood Anglican church.  They "share" a Communion cup, meaning that everyone drinks from the same cup and the rim is simply wiped each time someone takes a drink.  I think there was real wine in the chalice!  Mmmmmmaybe that helps cut down on all the germs.....  That evening we had Easter dinner with Deb and Les and their family and friends.  As usual, Deb prepared a delicious dinner and fabulous dessert.  Thanks, Deb!

Part of the trail was still snow covered!

These doors are from the old court house. The new building is a beautiful high-tech glass structure.
