Thanksgiving in the Rockies

This was the first time in thirty years that we have not spent Thanksgiving with the kids. :(  So we decided to take a couple of days and go skiing at Lake Louise, which is about three hours west of Calgary.  The snow was terrific! (But you already knew I was going to say that!)  After skiing on Thursday, we were set on having a traditional turkey dinner, but it was hard to come by.  Jim would have been just as happy with a pint and some bangers and mash, but I wasn't having any of it.  I wanted my turkey and dressing!  We ended up going to Ricky's, which is the equivalent of a Denny's in the US.  It wasn't too bad,  but they should have been ashamed of themselves for charging $15.99!  You'll see what I mean by the picture below.

We had sunny skies all day on Thursday and it snowed on us all day Friday.  Both days the temperature hovered around 20 F(frigging) degrees.  No broken bones to report, but lots of sore muscles!  The hot tub certainly came in handy after a hard day of skiing.  The Men's World Cup races were being held at Lake Louise while we were there.  We saw time trails on Thursday and Friday, but not the race itself, which was held on Saturday.  Jim tried to sign up up, but was told he was too late and too old  (he-he-he).

We should have another record breaking season of snow in the Rockies, so we invite you to come ski with us any time!  We'll bring the Bota bag (wineskin)!

Beautiful sunny skies on the slope.

You can just make out Lake Louise at the base of the mountains near the middle of the picture.
